St. Muredach’s Cathedral Restoration – An update

Encouraging Financial News about the Cathedral Restoration Work.

The total amount collected for the Cathedral Restoration work up to the end of September 2015 is €457,913.87.

Thank you to all who have fundraised or contributed so generously.

The following is a breakdown of the monies received:

  • Killala Diocesan Contribution: €250,000
  • Cathedral Restoration Envelopes: €134,670
  • Fundraising Events: €28,047
  • Individual Donations: €45,196.87
  • Total: €457,913.87

A bank loan of €2,450,000 has been negotiated by the Parish to cover the total cost of the restoration work.

The monthly bank repayment is €17,335.47 or €4,334 per week.

At the moment the weekly contribution to the Cathedral Restoration work is running at approximately €3,000 per week, a shortfall of €1,334 per week.

We are encouraging people who may not have got around to supporting this necessary repair work to date to complete a Standing Order Form available from the Parish Office or to make a contribution using the white Cathedral Restoration envelopes available at the church doors or to sign up for a box of Restoration envelopes. The amount of money we have to raise may seem daunting but together we will achieve our goal if everyone gives a little.

You may also complete and return a tax rebate form to the Parish Office if you have donated more than €250 to the Parish. Through ‘tax back’ €250 is worth €307 to the Parish. (Tax rebate forms are available in the Parish Office)

If you would like to make a donation towards the restoration work, you can make your cheque payable to “St. Muredach’s Cathedral Restoration Fund” and send it to:

Your continued generosity and support is greatly appreciated.
