The diocese of Killala has had an impressive history in its support and
encouragement of the young people in the Faith and in social initiatives. In the coming year it is hoped that a new ‘Youth’ strategy will be unveiled for the diocese for the years 2007-2010. This study has been based on the input of teenagers and young adults all over the diocese and promises to be very exciting indeed!

So what is Youth Ministry?

We would all agree that we need to spread the Good News – the wonderful message that having a close relationship with Jesus Christ is a gift which we cannot afford to miss out on. By trying to communicate Christ, through direct experience of His love through witness and example, we can show that living as a believing member of the Church is a joy.
Youth Ministry works in the areas of prayer, catechesis and evangelisation with people of any age up to about 26 but the young at heart are never excluded! It tries to develop and encourage the faith; values and leadership qualities in our young people through avenues coming from their own areas of interest. Prayer and gospel values are at the core of all initiatives as well as personal development. We aim to create comfortable environments in which young people can learn, discuss and share about issues which are of interest to them. Such gatherings also give a great opportunity for youth of different ages to meet others with similar interests and who share a love of God.
