On Sunday, April 26th, 2026, Archbishop Francis Duffy was installed as the new Bishop of Killala during Mass in St Muredach’s Cathedral. Parishioners representing the 22 parishes of the Diocese of Killala were joined by over 80 priests, recently commissioned lay leaders, representatives of the religious communities, 23 bishops, representatives of the main Christian Churches, public representatives, and members of Archbishop Duffy’s family and friends. His Holiness, Pope Leo XIV, was represented by Archbishop Luis Mariano Montemayor, Papal Nuncio in Ireland. His Eminence, Seán Cardinal Brady and Bishop John Fleming, Bishop Emeritus of Killala, were among the concelebrants. Archbishop Eamon Martin, Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All Ireland, presided at the beginning of the Mass until the moment when Archbishop Francis Duffy was installed as the new Bishop of Killala.
